Pastor Steve McGarry
Pastor Steve McGarry graduated from Yankton College, Yankton S.D. in 1971 with a major in political science and with minors in economics, theology, speech and theater. After considering attending The University of South Dakota School of Law, he decided instead to marry and start a family and settled in Massachusetts. He began a seventeen year career in manufacturing management, where he worked for a major valve company in Worcester, Massachusetts. He became a specialist in new plant and product start-up and a turn-around specialist of non-efficient manufacturing units.
Steve moved to SE Florida and married his wife JoAnn in 1995. He founded and operated his own company and together they ran their business until December 2007. Between them they have six children and eighteen grandchildren, all of which reside in Massachusetts.
Steve came to Christ in 1999 while taking the first Alpha course given at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Stuart FL. Soon after, he began to hear a call to the priesthood. This caused him to embark on a long journey of discernment. His life as he knew it was changed forever, as his new call from God became Steve's driving force.
Steve was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate in the Anglican Mission in the Americas. He was ordained by The Rt. Rev. John Miller III at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in May of 2008. On December 10th 2009, Bishop John Miller ordained Steve to the priesthood.
Besides his passion for Jesus and His Gospel message, Steve and his wife JoAnn are avid golfers. Steve continues with the challenge of someday beating JoAnn in competition, who by the way, is a club champion. Steve’s best recorded score in club completion was a 77.
Steve's hope is that a lifetime of overcoming adversities and welcoming challenges will be blessed and used by God. He also hopes to glorify His name to those who do not yet know Him.
